Quadraphonic is alive and well

Hello all,

My name is Chris Kasper and I've created this blog because I love many of the quadraphonic recordings that were released in the 1970's. I became interested in these recordings when a friend of mine played a version of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon in the original quadraphonic format. As you can imagine I was blown away. How could it be that they were releasing material like this in 1973 and we are stuck listening to over compressed and grainy sounding MP3's? As it turns out, over 150 of these records were released. Many of which were not well done because the format and concept was as new to the artists and engineers creating it as it was to the general public. That said, a number of these turned out to be gems. Over the last few years, I have collected about 50 of these albums that I consider to must haves. My hope is to introduce these albums to a whole new generation of people and to get it back into the hands of those that may have lost it over the years. These records are not something that you can go into Best Buy and purchase. They are not commercially available. What I have collected and constructed is a high resolution digital catalog of some of my favorites. If you are interested in hearing these records, talking about the format or just have questions or comments, feel free to chime in.
